More Belgian Tidbits to Ponder

Belgians claim to have invented the French Fry, known as frites. The confusion began with the Old English "to french", which meant to cut into strips. Poor Belgians would cut potatoes into strips the size of fish when the stored fish ran out during the winter. Today frites are served with mayonnaise.
Belgians also lay claim to inventing beer; a Flemish monk is credited with the discovery.
Belgium has an average of 323 people per square kilometer.
The present head of state is King Albert II. His wife is Queen Paola.
Belgium has become known as "the battlefield of Europe" thanks to Waterloo,
WWI, WWII, and many other conflicts.
Belgium is in the process of banning the burqua and niquab.
